It's Good To Be Me

Funded by Creative Partnerships, Storymakers TV delivered a film and arts based project working with St Andrew's Primary School, including INSET training for all staff. As part of the INSET days, we provided information about current arts policy, examples of good practice with case studies, and technical skills in how to use the school's cameras/editing software. In addition, we also provided theatre-based tools such as Forum Theatre.

With pupils, we looked at developing workshops involving all classes in school. The main aim of these workshops was to explore "It's Good to be Me" curriculum work.

A curriculum-led approach

By the end of the project, we had produced a total of 20 short films (about 1 minute each) of a scene developed in class, where the
students are confronted with their emotions and have to resolve a conflict through self-managing their stress levels and acting in a positive way. For example, the issue around transition from primary to secondary school was explored.
